It is ethically inappropriate for James to take up a counseling session with a client yet he lacks adequate exposure and experience to handle the client. From the case study his inexperience and lack of diversity exposure is evident.

Issues such as lack of cultural diversity would be noted and by working with Lisa, he would on the right path towards expanding his diversity of clients. James is on training and thus all the actions and decision that he undertakes must pass through his supervisor.
James may feel intimidated being supervised by his ex girl friend but it is the only way to ensure that he qualifies with proper knowledge and expertise Jones, Confidentiality The second ethical dilemma evident in this case study is confidentiality. Lisa admits to Lisa that she was physically and sexually abused by her step father.
